After proving they could achieve victory over their toughest opponent, Buena Park, boys’ Varsity Waterpolo scored additional wins against Los Alamitos, Troy and Sonora with 18 wins and 8 losses. “We got past the hardest part of the season by beating Buena Park. The rest of the games shouldn’t be too hard,” predicted JV water polo player sophomore Scott Huff.
The team practices numerous times in the morning, after school, and occasionally on weekends, where they do drills such as shooting, swimming, passing, and weight lifting.
Not only does practice lead to their success, but they also depend on the support of their teammates. “My teammates are like my brothers and we all have our good and bad times together,” said Steele.
Expectations and goals drive the team throughout the season. “Each individual player has their own expectations, from winning CIF or Freeway League, to improving their play. The season is going very well so far, and I expect to reach CIF,” said Steele.
